Fawn Thatched Cottage is a beautifully restored traditional Donegal farmhouse in the townland of Fawn, just 3 km from the coastal town of Malin on the Inishowen Peninsula. This wonderful cottage exudes charm and has all the marks of a cottage that has been lovingly cared for down through the years by generations of the same family.
The original single storey thatch cottage is several hundred years old. Over time a second storey was added and more recently a modern extension was tastefully added to the rear. The cottage has a beautiful rural setting and is sheltered by mature trees and well maintained outhouses.
On entering through the traditional half door the visitor will find a beautifully restored parlour complete with hearth and cooking crane, dresser, original stone floor and old style cottage furniture and ornaments. A high ceiling and white rough rendered walls give an airy feel to this charming living space.
A large sitting room is adjacent to the parlour and is housed in the thatched part of the building. Like all rooms in the cottage it has been tastefully furnished and decorated in keeping with the traditional style. The room has an open fireplace and a dining table.
